We are a not-for-profit corporation, organized in 1997, for the conservation of historical
resources that benefit the general public. Our purpose is to protect historically significant
structures, sites, and items of historical interest, and also protection of environmentally

Reflections of Manatee
Ongoing Events

Reflections of Manatee, Inc., teamed up with several groups to provide an ongoing archaeological
research station located at Manatee Mineral Springs and surrounding area.
Students from New College of Sarasota, Florida, Traces of our Past, and
The Florida Public Archaeology Network are working on collecting research, studying artifacts previously
found at the site and planning digs under the direction of Dr. Uzi Barahm.

Most recently under the direction of the Army Corp of Engineers, the Whitten Technologies provided at
comprehensive study of the site using Tomography.  Tad Britt also tested a new invention called the
Hammer. Tomography is explained as a type of (MRI like) photography of the ground. The "Hammer" is
used to tag artifacts seen in the photo's. Photos and videos were taken of the ground and will be studied
for years by archaeologists, without having to visit the site.
